Selective Colour in Photoshop

This is how to create selective colour images in photoshop.

  • First choose the image you want to use.
  • Open in photoshop and duplicate the layer.
  • Turn this duplicated layer to black and white.
  • Then using the eraser ‘rub out’ the black and white area where you want the colour to come through.
  • Zooming in on the area you are working on helps.
  • Work slowly and methodically.

Its simple and quite effective if you use the correct image!

About Mary

I am studying for a Bachelor of Arts degree in Photography at Plymouth University. This blog is a means of sharing my journey of discovery with fellow photographers and those who are interested in visual arts. The work on this blog is a blend of my module research and my personal interests. The majority of the work placed on this blog is university based work. I do hope that you enjoy this blog: through it, and by it, you can see the breadth of studies undertaken.
